First of all, I fell in love with the Monocle design. That little eye caught my attention, and I immediately knew this was something I’d love to own. Then I discovered the story behind the brand, and I fell in love even more — because it gives new life to single-use cameras (or at least parts of them). And it’s made in the Czech Republic, not in some huge factory in China. It’s a very personal, well-made, and well-communicated brand, and I just love that.

That’s the first part. The second is the mood of the photos. They look like film — often imperfect — but I’ve never chased perfection, only feeling. And I LOVE the feeling in these photos. They look like they were taken in the ’80s or ’90s, when I was growing up, so there’s a sense of nostalgia for me.

And the cherry on top is that the Monocle lens is very small — perfect for traveling. I’m so glad you heard my wishes and made it for Canon too. I’m a big fan.
